Manual Therapy

Orthopaedic specialisation to IFOMPT standard

Orthopaedic manual therapy is a globally recognised specialisation of physiotherapy. Our therapists seek the root cause of your pain and provide individually tailored treatment for lasting recovery.

Manual therapy is based on a biopsychosocial model: pain is not purely a physical phenomenon, but is also influenced by psychological and social factors. Our therapists consider the whole person.

Following a thorough history-taking and functional assessment, targeted manual techniques are applied: mobilisation, manipulation, neuromuscular techniques and therapeutic exercises. The patient is actively involved in the healing process.

Our treatment table β€” the Manuthera 242 from Finland β€” allows precise positioning for optimal technique application. The goal is always an autonomous patient who can manage their complaints long-term.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a medical referral?

In Belgium, a medical prescription is generally required for health insurance reimbursement. Without a prescription you can still consult us β€” costs will then be borne privately.

How many sessions are needed?

This depends greatly on the diagnosis. Acute complaints (e.g. lumbago) can often be significantly improved in 3–5 sessions. Chronic conditions require more sessions β€” and above all regular home exercises.
